Newt Gingrich is the Frontrunner?
This past Saturday my home state of South Carolina voted Newt Gingrich to be the Republican nominee to run against Barack Obama. Supposedly, Newt is the man of ideas. Sure he has big ideas, but I haven’t heard any of these big ideas that sound feasible or effective. Newt is incredible at defending himself. He has played off his infidelity with his wives, and has discounted attacks about the fact that was forced out of his Speakership and fined $300,000 by the Ethics Committee. Speaker Gingrich’s wave of support is coming out of a hatred for President Obama. He attacks the president as a ‘food-stamps’ president, and fuels the electorate that would vote for anyone besides Barack Obama come November.
This hatred and radicalism can be attributed to the Tea Party movement in 2010. There is no doubt that this movement would have an effect on the presidential race, but it seems as though it is blowing apart the Republican Party. Newt’s rhetoric and false accusations are working in the GOP primary. However, independent and swing voters know the truth about Newt Gingrich and would gladly see to it that he is not the President of the United States. The only candidate left that seems to stand a chance at getting those voters is Mitt Romney; who has also looked fairly week as an opposition to Obama. It is clear that the GOP is in a panic with their possible nominees. President Obama will have an easy time with any of the candidates left in the race. Especially a Newt Gingrich nomination.

New Hampshire Primary
The NH primary is coming up on Jan. 11. As I listen to the news and hear that this is Romney’s to lose. Well expect that loss to occur. With Santorum rising, raising 1 million in one day, and Gingrich hammering Romney makes this primary more difficult for Romney. But here is what is really going to hurt Romney in NH. Jon Huntsman has been gaining support in NH, but what the media fails to mention is that Independents can vote in the primary of there choice. Since there is no Democratic primary then many Independents are will vote in the Republican primary. Many of them are expected to vote for Huntsman as a true moderate. If Huntsman can win the NH primary then we will see a very long extension of the GOP primaries.
Iowa Caucus Prediction
Tonight, Iowa will give a victory to one of the GOP nominees. Mitt Romney will not win Iowa, and possibly finish 3rd. Rick Santorum and Ron Paul seem to have the heavy hands going into it. However, both Paul and Santorum are not strong enough to defeat Obama in the general. That mindset is Romney’s only chance to win Iowa. Between those three candidates it can be a toss up, but I believe Santorum will win due to the 2010 wave of conservatism. Iowa, in this instance, will not be as important as what happens in New Hampshire and my home state of South Carolina.
The supercommittee was proven that it is one of more ill-named committees in congressional history. There is really nothing super about it. They were unable to accomplish the mandate to cut $1.2 trillion of the federal debt. Instead the committee will only be used to score political points. Democrats will say Republicans didn’t budge on tax hikes on millionaires and billionaires. Republicans will argue that Democrats refused to make cuts to entitlements. Perhaps, our nation can push past partisan differences, and we can begin to raise revenue and make significant cuts to the federal debt.
